Mark those calendars! You are
cordially invited to attend the CSRAO’s 2011 Annual General
Meeting and Convention on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11,
at Oakham House, Ryerson University, in downtown Toronto. The
attached materials include the two-day agenda and a registration
form. Council has worked very hard to put
together a slate of sessions relevant to court reporting
students and independent contractors alike. On Friday evening, a group of
well-known and experienced industry reps will discuss working at
the Senate or as a freelancer. For students and interested
working reporters, this is an unprecedented opportunity to
obtain answers on what you need to know about the real world of
freelance and Senate shorthand reporting work. This event will
also be accessible via webcast if you are unable to attend in
person. Working reporters, bolster your
ability to manage and protect your precious business data; learn
to harness the power of social media in your marketing strategy;
and improve your ability to e-communicate with tips to save time
and effectively make your point. All presenters are
professionals who excel in the areas on which they are speaking.
Each seminar will be followed by Q&A. Members are invited to our morning
AGM to discuss issues of concern to the profession. If you are a
Fellow (that is, a CSR-holder), your attendance is crucial to
achieve quorum, hold discussion and vote on motions. In
addition, several terms on Council are ending, and I call out to
all members to give thought to joining our Council to ensure our
professional voice is unified and strong over the next several
years. I very much look forward to seeing
you at our 2011 AGM&C.
Yours truly,
President - CSRAO
